WATCH D.O.G.S. Guidelines

  • Please no photos of students during the school day as not every student has photo permission. You may take pictures with your student at 7:20 AM in the office at the beginning of the school day. 
  • You need to be an LISD approved volunteer to be a WATCH D.O.G.  Here is the website to go to: www.leanderisd.org Click on "Community" at the top, then "Volunteer" at the bottom.
  • You will receive a WATCH D.O.G. schedule the morning of your arrival. It will outline your WATCH D.O.G. day, which starts at 7:20 AM and ends approx 2:50 PM
  • BE ENGAGED with not only your child, but all SRE students. The children are the main focus of your day.
  • Raise and lower the flags with your child(ren), weather permitting. The receptionist will assist you.
  • Eat lunch and enjoy recess with your child. Please wear comfortable pants/shorts and shoes with your WATCH D.O.G.S. T-shirt. You can bring your own lunch or purchase a lunch at school. There are snack and soda machines in the teacher's lounge.
  • Be in class with your child and please remember to be flexible as there could be a conflict in the child's classroom schedule the day you are scheduled to be a WATCH D.O.G. Many things are unpredictable when you sign up.
  • Go with the flow. Some days at school are crazy or laid back. Assist with the teacher in whatever task you are asked to do (it could be cutting out material, helping students in a group, etc.). 
  • Understand that the SRE children are the focus.
  • Please enter the classroom quietly and wait to be prompted from the teacher to introduce yourself. (please don't walk in and announce yourself - it will be obvious because of your shirt!)
  • Play or talk with the children on the playground or at lunch rather than talking to the teachers or other parents. Please be engaged with the children.
  • Be considerate in the classroom and the hallways. Please turn off your cell phone or put on mute while at SRE. There will be 1-2 breaks where you can catch up on a phone call. Please no cell phone use or texting in front of the child(ren)
  • You will need to wear a WATCH D.O.G.S.  T-shirt as identification for teachers, administration, parents, and children. Must be visible at all times.
