Approved Areas To Volunteer for WATCH D.O.G.S.

  • Cafeteria: If you have been assigned to the cafeteria and your student is not eating at this time, you will want to look for      students that need help opening food and drink items, especially milk and juice boxes. Reminding students to pick up trash is    always helpful and helps teach them personal responsibility and ownership. Also, please feel free to sit with the students and ask about their day You are a role Model for our students! Tell them about what you do for a living and get to know our students. They will love talking with you!
  • Recess: WE always need another set of eyes on the playground! Look around for students that are by themselves and get them involved in a game. The students love when a WATCH DOG is helping to lead a game or watching one they have already started.
  • Patrolling the Playground: Please make sure that all of the gates around the playground are closed at all times. If a gate is   open please let the office know ASAP. Please also for any sharp objects or any items that may be unsafe.
  • Patrolling the Building: If you have been assigned to patrol the building, please make sure that all of the doors to the outside   are closed at all times and locked. Please make sure our students are moving along to their destination. One of the goals of what WATCH DOGS program is to help make sure the environment is safe. If you notice anything unsafe, please let office know ASAP.
  • PE: We need each WATCH DOG to be an extra pair of eyes during all games and activities. Rather than being a participant    yourself, we need you for “crowd control”. You will be helping us enforce our P.E. Rules throughout the entire class along with the little things like tying shoes, giving bathroom and water breaks, and keeping the peace!
  • Art & Performing Arts: In the fine arts areas, you might be working w/small groups, helping out with the set tear down or prop design, distributing materials, or monitoring the students during play rehearsals.
